Hon. Joe G. Riley retired from the bench in 2004 having served 7 years on the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals and 18 years as a Circuit Court Judge in Dyer and Lake Counties. As a Circuit Court Judge, he was one of the pioneers of judicial mediations in civil and domestic cases even prior to the adoption of Rule 31. He is a skilled mediator and settlement judge, known for his creative settlements in resolving complex matters.

He is a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, Tennessee Academy of Mediators & Arbitrators, and Tennessee Association of Professional Mediators. Joe has served as Disciplinary Counsel of the Tennessee Court of the Judiciary, is a Past-President of the Tennessee Judicial Conference and is a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation. He has authored numerous legal publications, served as an adjunct professor at the University of Memphis School of Law and taught seminars for judges, lawyers and lay groups. Joe is a Rule 31 Listed General Civil Mediator.
