Patricia Best Vital East Tennessee Patricia Best Vital has maintained for over ten years a substantial legal career that specializes in matters that focus on health, family, discrimination, employment, business, contracts, agreements, guardianships and conservatorships. Prior to starting her own firm, she was a Law Clerk to the Hamilton County Tennessee Attorney’s Office. She has been a Rule 31 Listed Family and General Civil Mediator since 1997. Ms. Vital is an extremely qualified neutral and has completed over 500 hours of training in the mediation, arbitration and resolution of disputes involving the American with Disabilities Act, employment issues, civil/commercial/business matters, securities, new car “lemon laws” with manufacturers and family matters. She is on the neutral panels of the Washington, DC Key Bridge Foundation, the Cornell Institute for Conflict Resolution, Alliance for Education in Dispute Resolution, Georgia State University Usery Center for Dispute Resolution for the U.S. Department of Labor, External Mediation Services for the State of TN Department of Finance & Administration’s Division of Mental Retardation Services and the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). She has served as a Better Business Bureau mediator and arbitrator, a Council of Better Business Bureaus AutoLine arbitrator and as a mediator for the Hamilton County, Tennessee Divorce Education & Mediation Pilot Project (T.C.A. Sections 36-6-401, et seq.). Ms. Vital was the lead trainer at Tennessee State University on general civil, family and special education mediation. She has served as an adjunct professor of pre-trial litigation/ADR in the Legal Assistant Studies Program, School of Social & Community Services, University of Tennessee Chattanooga. Ms. Vital was a trainer on Tennessee law for Private Dispute Resolution Services of Chattanooga (a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31/ADR Commission-approved ADR training provider). She has chaired the continuing mediation education/curriculum committee of the Mediation Association of Tennessee and has served as board director. Ms. Vital is an Eleventh Judicial District Representative on the Tennessee Bar Association House of Delegates and is a Past Speaker of that body. She holds memberships in the Chattanooga, Georgia, Tennessee and American Bar Associations. She has chaired the ADR committee of the Chattanooga Bar Association, the American Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section State and Local Bar Survey Committee and the Tennessee Bar Association Dispute Resolutions Section. Other professional memberships include the Federal Bar Association, Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, Southeast Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women, Association of Conflict Resolution, American Arbitration Association, the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics, and the Tennessee Association of Partners in Education. She has been named to the International Who’s Who of Entrepreneurs and to the Marquis Who’s Who of American Lawyers.
