J. Maxwell Williams is an AV rated attorney who has practiced as a trial lawyer, a criminal prosecutor and a government and corporate attorney. Former positions include Vice President and General Counsel of the Memphis Light, Gas & Water Division; Chief Group Counsel and Assistant Secretary of W. R. Grace & Co.; and Hillsborough County Attorney in Tampa, Florida. He is an experienced and highly qualified neutral who has mediated and arbitrated a variety of cases including corporate and business transactions, environmental matters, construction issues, securities disputes, labor and employment relations and personal injury.

Mr. Williams is a Fellow in the American College of Civil Trial Mediators and a member of the Association of Attorney Mediators. He is a panel arbitrator and mediator for the American Arbitration Association, the National Association of Securities Dealers, the New York Stock Exchange and Peacemaker Ministries. He is past chair of the Dispute Resolutions of the Memphis and Tennessee Bar Associations. He is a board member of the ADR section of the Memphis Bar Association. He currently serves as a volunteer mediator and arbitrator for the Shelby County Juvenile Court Mediation and Restitution Services (MARRS) program for misdemeanor offenders. Mr. Williams has been a Rule 31 Listed General Civil Mediator since 1997. He has also been certified since 1999 by the Florida Supreme Court as a County and Circuit Civil Mediator.
